Heading to Bolivia? A Twise Bolivia eSIM lets you buy mobile data online, receive your QR code instantly by email, and get connected the moment you land. Use it for maps, translation, hotel messages, bookings and ride-hailing, with no SIM shop stop and no roaming bill.

Choose a World eSIM with 1GB of data for light use, or Orange Holiday World if you want more data plus calls and SMS. Hotspot is supported, but a 1GB plan will not go far if you share your connection.

Please note: most Twise travel eSIMs are data-only. They do not include a phone number or standard SMS.

  • Instant QR code delivery by email
  • No physical SIM swapping
  • Works alongside your home SIM on dual-SIM phones
  • Fixed-data World plans from 3 to 30 days
  • Hotspot supported
  • Calls and SMS on selected plans

Which Bolivia eSIM Should You Choose?

Three World eSIM options cover Bolivia. They differ mainly in data allowance and in how many countries they cover, so the right one depends on your usage and your route.

Twise eSIM Coverage Data and services Validity Best for
World 88 Countries Bolivia + supported 88-country network 1GB fixed data 3–30 days Light-use trips within the supported countries
World 156 Countries Bolivia + supported 156-country network 1GB fixed data 3–30 days Light use with a wider country list
Orange Holiday World 195+ Bolivia + 195+ supported countries 10GB + 15 call minutes + 50 SMS 30 days Longer trips and higher data needs

Always check the exact country list, data allowance, validity, network and call and SMS terms on the product page before checkout.

A note on 1GB plans

The World 88 and World 156 plans give you 1GB of fixed data, and validity can run up to 30 days. That does not mean 1GB lasts 30 days. Validity is the maximum time you can use the data, not the amount you will get. One gigabyte suits messaging, maps, email and translation on a short trip. It will not go far if you stream video, make video calls, back up photos or share your connection.

World 88 Countries eSIM

A fixed-data World option for travelers whose itinerary is within the supported 88-country footprint. It offers 1GB of data valid for 3 to 30 days, so it suits lighter use and supported multi-country trips.

World 156 Countries eSIM

The wider World option, for travelers visiting Bolivia plus destinations outside the 88-country plan. It also offers 1GB of fixed data valid for 3 to 30 days. Choose it when a country on your route is not in the 88-country list.

Orange Holiday World 195+ Countries

Orange Holiday World offers far more data and some communication allowance. You get 10GB of data, 15 call minutes and 50 SMS, valid for 30 days across 195+ countries. The call minutes apply to calls within the countries covered by the plan. It suits longer trips, heavier data use, or travelers who want some calling and texting without relying on their home SIM.

Compare Bolivia eSIM Plans

Match the plan to your trip

Short trip, 3–7 days: A 1GB World plan is enough if you mainly use maps, messaging, email, translation and occasional browsing.

One to two weeks: 1GB can still work for light users, but navigation, social media and photo uploads can use it quickly. If that sounds like you, compare Orange Holiday World.

Up to 30 days: Compare plans by expected data use, not just validity. Orange Holiday World is the more realistic choice when 1GB would not last.

Bolivia plus other countries: The 88, 156 and 195+ country plans cover different destinations. List every country on your route and check each against the plan’s coverage before you buy.

Do You Need Calls and SMS With a Bolivia eSIM?

Bolivia eSIM: Flexible Travel Data Plans for Armenia

Most travelers only need data. Maps, translation, bookings and messaging apps all run on mobile data. Still, it is worth deciding before you buy.

Data-only World eSIMs
The World 88 and World 156 plans are data-only. You can still message and call over the internet using apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime or Messenger, as long as you have a data connection. Standard calls and SMS go through your home SIM.

When Orange Holiday World may be better
Choose Orange Holiday World if you need much more data than 1GB, or want included call minutes and SMS. It gives you 10GB for 30 days, 15 call minutes and 50 SMS. Check the product page for the exact conditions.

What to expect from the Orange allowance
Fifteen call minutes and 50 SMS are a safety net, not a replacement for a local SIM. They suit occasional calls to a hotel, tour operator or booking line. If you plan regular calls or need a Bolivian number, a local SIM is the better choice.

Keep your home number with dual SIM
On compatible devices, you can keep your normal SIM active for OTPs or incoming messages while using Twise for data. Your home carrier’s roaming charges still apply for anything that goes through the home SIM.

Why Use an eSIM in Bolivia?

Get connected without visiting a SIM shop. Arrange connectivity online before departure, instead of searching for a SIM retailer after a long journey.

Keep your main SIM for calls and OTPs. On compatible dual-SIM phones, use Twise for data and keep your home SIM available for SMS, calls or verification codes.

Continue using the same eSIM across countries. World eSIMs keep working when you cross into other supported countries, so you do not need a new SIM at every border. Always check that each country is in the plan.

When a Twise Bolivia eSIM makes more sense

A Twise eSIM suits short-term visitors, travelers who want connectivity ready before arrival, people who want to keep their home SIM, and multi-country itineraries.

Check If Your Phone Supports eSIM

Check this before you buy. Twise asks customers to confirm that their phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked before purchase.

Your phone must support eSIM. Not every smartphone does. Compatible families include recent iPhones, selected Samsung Galaxy models, Google Pixel phones and other supported Android phones. See the full Twise eSIM-compatible phones list.

check carrier compatibility for unlocked phones - Bolivia eSIM

Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. A phone can support eSIM and still reject a travel eSIM if it is locked to another carrier. If you are unsure, ask your carrier. The Twise Help Center can also help.

Quick checks:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data → look for Add eSIM. To check the lock, go to Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means the phone is unlocked.
  • Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → look for Add eSIM
  • Google Pixel: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → look for Add SIM/eSIM

How to Buy and Install Your Bolivia eSIM

  1. Choose your plan. Compare World 88, World 156 and Orange Holiday World by coverage, trip length, data allowance, and whether you need calls and SMS.
  2. Check out on the Twise website.
  3. Check your email. Your QR code and installation instructions arrive instantly.
  4. Install before departure, over stable Wi-Fi.
  5. Activate after arrival. Select the Twise eSIM for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for that eSIM line.

Important: each QR code can be installed only once, and the same code cannot be used on two devices. Keep it private, and do not delete the eSIM from your phone after installing. If you remove it, you cannot reinstall it with the same code.

iPhone: Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data → Add eSIM → Use QR Code → scan the code from your email → label the line “Twise Bolivia”. In Bolivia, select it for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming. If the QR code does not scan, you can enter the details manually using the SM-DP+ address and activation code.

What We See Most Often With Bolivia eSIMs

Twise’s support team helps travelers with activation and connection issues every day. These are the problems that come up most often, and how to avoid them.

  1. The phone is still carrier-locked. The eSIM option exists, but installation fails or the plan does not connect. Check Carrier Lock on iPhone, or ask your carrier to confirm your phone is unlocked before you travel.
  2. Data Roaming is off. The eSIM is installed and selected, but nothing loads. Twise travel eSIMs need Data Roaming switched on for the eSIM line. Keep it off for your home SIM to avoid roaming charges.
  3. Your home SIM is still handling data. On dual-SIM phones, check that mobile data is set to the Twise eSIM. Otherwise your phone may use your home carrier’s expensive roaming data.
  4. The eSIM was deleted by mistake. Because each QR code installs once, deleting the eSIM usually means you cannot add it back. Keep it on your phone, even after the trip ends.
  5. The 1GB runs out faster than expected. Video calls, streaming, photo backups and hotspot can use 1GB in a day or less. Turn off automatic backups and updates, and check usage in your phone’s mobile data settings.
  6. Weak or no signal in remote areas. Mobile coverage in Bolivia can be limited outside cities, for example in the highlands, on multi-day tours across the salt flats, and in remote rural areas. This is a network limitation, not a problem with the eSIM. Download offline maps and key bookings before you leave town.
  7. Expecting calls and SMS from a data-only plan. Most Twise plans are data-only, so verification codes and standard calls go to your home SIM. Keep it active, or move banking apps to authenticator-based verification before you leave. If you need included calls and SMS, choose Orange Holiday World.

Practical Tips for Using Your eSIM in Bolivia

  • Install before you fly, over stable Wi-Fi, so you do not depend on airport connectivity after landing.
  • Keep your home SIM available for OTPs. Dual SIM lets you receive verification texts on your normal number.
  • Avoid accidental home-SIM roaming. Check which line is selected for mobile data and turn off automatic data switching if your phone has it.
  • Manage your 1GB carefully. Limit streaming, automatic backups and large uploads on the World 88 and World 156 plans.
  • Download offline maps for remote areas before you leave town, because signal can vary.
  • Check coverage before crossing borders. The 88, 156 and 195+ country plans have different destination lists, so confirm that your next country is included.
